      Sossuvlei

The Sossuvlei area belongs to a wider region of Southern Namib. This area is characterized by high sand dunes of vivid pink to orange color, a concentration of iron in the sand and consequent oxidation processes.

Sossuvlei has the highest sand dunes in the world and the composition of these dunes produces breathtakingly beautiful dune landscapes which undergo colour changes at sunrise and at sunset that have to be seen to be believed. It is thus strongly recommended that visitors enter the park as early as possible and leave very late.
